As expected, there are a few treasured classics making their annual appearance on this list, but we’re also excited to see some brand new favourites.

10. Cinnamon Doughnut Baby Cakes

These tender little cakes were one of our most baked 2019 challenge recipes over on our Facebook group. Coated in cinnamon sugar, they feature all the best bits of a traditional doughnut without having to deep fry them. Don’t be fooled by the simple ingredients or method – they really are something special.

Made the Cinnamon doughnut baby cakes this morning. The reaction of my work colleagues – “OMG they are soooo good!” and “they taste just like cinnamon doughnuts” – Karen

9. Raspberry White Chocolate Pound Cake

Smothered in cream cheese icing and studded with tangy raspberries, your photos of this deliciously dense pound cake popped up all over social media last year.  Better yet, the batter comes together in one bowl and doesn’t require a stand mixer!

Made the raspberry and white chocolate pound cake yesterday, husband took it to work today and it got smashed . Definitely making this again – Sherie

8. Double Vanilla Portuguese Custard Tarts

These mini tarts are truly one of our favourite Queen recipes, loved widely by our bakers for their ease and deliciousness! Aside from the silky smooth, fragrant custard, there’s also a secret to making them so moreish – a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar between the layers of pastry.

Amazing. They pack a flavour punch and easy to make ”– Amy

7. Vanilla Custard Magic Cake

Well, it wouldn’t be our annual “Most Loved Recipes” list without this one popping up! Year after year, our Vanilla Custard Magic Cake proves to be a firm favourite. Whip it up with pantry staple ingredients and watch as it transforms in the oven from a thin batter, to a triple layered dessert.

I just made this and it’s delicious. Ate it warm because I couldn’t wait all evening for it to cool. Worth it. I am sure it’s even tastier tomorrow. 5/5 – BM

6. Perfect Vanilla Butter Cake

It may have taken the 6th spot on this list, but we think this cake deserves first place for the most versatile recipe of 2019. Dress it up with sprinkles and food colour, keep it simple with a swirl of vanilla buttercream or turn it into a batch of cupcakes with choc chips, berries or a twist of citrus.

Finally got a chance to bake the Queens Vanilla Butter Cake, using Queens Vanilla extract of course, it’s as promised, buttery and moist! I usually don’t ice my cakes unless it’s for a special occasion. I added some coloured rainbow sprinkles into the batter! Thank you Queens for the recipe! – Jessie

5. Wagon Wheel Slice

“Reinvented classics” was a strong prediction in our 2019 trend report, so we weren’t surprised to see our Wagon Wheel Slice come in at number 5. This homemade version features a buttery shortbread base, fluffy marshmallow and a thick layer of chocolate on top.

I made the wagon wheel slice that came out in one of the recent emails. I took it to work and everyone LOVED it. – Hayley

4. Honey Jumbles

Another old school revival, these iconic biscuits were a very successful challenge recipe over on the Queen Baking Club Facebook group. With a hint of spice and a sweet pastel coloured icing, this nostalgic classic is very easy to recreate at home.

My Honey Jumbles. Absolutely delicious!!!! I believe they are better the next day. The flavour deepens, the colour of the biscuit darkens & the icing gets that classic ‘honey jumble’ crisp to it. Definitely a hit & I may have to make another batch 😃 – Linda

3. Rich Chocolate Mud Cake

A good mud cake should be part of every baker’s repertoire, and we’re so pleased to see this one make your list! We spent a long time developing and testing the recipe to make sure the texture was absolutely perfect, and easy to convert to white or dark chocolate.
