Ten Easy One-Bowl-Wonders

Hate washing up? So do we! But don’t let that compromise your sweet tooth.

Baking has a notoriously bad reputation for creating a mountain of dirty dishes, but it doesn’t always have to be that way. Forget “baking projects”, AKA those lengthy recipes with multiple components that require every utensil in your kitchen.  Instead, we’ve rounded up a selection of our favourite “one bowl wonders”. Otherwise known as the Holy Grail for time-poor bakers, this collection proves that baking can be totally fuss-free, without compromising on the final product.

1. Easy Microwave Freckle Fudge

Not only does this fool-proof fudge require only one bowl, you don’t even have to think about turning on your oven or stove! Perfect for a late night treat after the kids have gone to bed.

2. Weekender Cornflake Biscuits

Weekends are for putting your feet up, not doing dishes. Prepped and ready in 20 minutes, these crunchy biscuits allow you to do just that!

3. Tangy Ricotta Poppy Seed Muffins

When it comes to baked goods, muffins are the original one bowl wonder. Start with the dry ingredients, mix, then add your wet ingredients to the same bowl. For perfectly tender muffins, be sure to mix only until just combined. A few lumps are fine!

4. Gluten Free Choc Chip Cookies

Crunchy on the outside and perfectly chewy in the middle, you’ll never guess these cookies are both gluten free AND vegan. We added peanut butter to dial up the richness, but any nut butter would work a treat.

5. One Bowl Raspberry Lemon Bread

The title of this recipe from Blue Bowl Recipes says it all! Filled with tangy raspberries and a bright burst of lemon, this simple loaf cake is absolutely begging to be baked.

6. Passionfruit Coconut Blondies

These sweet chewy blondies truly couldn’t be easier to whip up – no mixer required! Simply melt your butter and chocolate in the microwave, stir in your eggs and dry ingredients and you’re good to go.

7. Blueberry Lemon Cake

This moist and tangy tea cake from Eat Little Bird uses crème fraiche or sour cream to create a lovely tender crumb. Don’t have any on hand? Natural yogurt works just as well!

8. Perfect Vanilla Butter Cake

Don’t be fooled by the short and sweet ingredients list! This simple butter cake tastes anything but. A dusting of icing sugar is all it needs, or use it as the perfect base for your next celebration or birthday cake.

9. Cinnamon Tea Cake

Served warm with a cup of tea, a slice of tea cake is one of life’s little pleasures. This cinnamon-scented recipe is from our friend Anneka Manning’s online course, Baking Foundations.

10. Rhubarb Muffins

These whole grain muffins from Feasting at Home are studded with juicy rhubarb and crunchy nuts and seeds. Sweetened without refined sugar, they’re a perfect grab-and-go breakfast for busy mornings.

There you have it – plenty of ways to satisfy your sweet tooth without destroying your kitchen!
