Best Edible Gifts for Christmas

There are many good reasons to skip the shops this year and bake your Christmas presents instead. Firstly, who doesn’t like fudge? A batch of something sweet is perfect for those “hard-to-buy-fors”, and won’t get lost amongst all the socks and boxes of Favourites.

Secondly, two little (terrifying) words: shopping centres. If you’re anything like us, you’ll be avoiding the Christmas madness at your local Westfield at all costs. Why brave the carpark when you can whip up presents in the comfort of your own kitchen?

And finally, gifting something home baked is such a personal way to say thank you and spread the Christmas cheer. From school teachers and colleagues to nurses and favourites aunties, we’ve got an edible gift worthy of every loved one in your life!

1. Classic Queen Rum Balls

These Rum balls are on everyone’s wish list come Christmas. A true classic that will never go out of style, we’ve given ours the Queen touch with a hint of vanilla, orange and cinnamon. Whip up a batch in ten minutes flat for any last minute gifts.

2. Festive Gingerbread Fudge

Classic Christmas spices and fragrant vanilla make this creamy fudge perfect for gifting. To ensure your fudge sets completely, be sure to bring the mixture to a boil. Allow it to simmer for 5 – 6 minutes, stirring continuously. Watch for the colour change: once it turns a darker, golden shade of brown, it’s ready to remove from the heat.

3. Meringue Wreaths

These delicate pastel wreaths look absolutely beautiful, but couldn’t be easier with a little help from our new Meringue & Pavlova Powder Mix. No fussing around with egg whites, simply add water and whip! We flavoured ours with Vanilla Bean Paste, but a dash of Queen Peppermint Extract would be very festive.

4. Gingerbread Marshmallow Slice

With three layers of festive flavours, this Christmas slice takes a little extra effort but is *so* worth it for the end result. If you don’t have a candy thermometer, don’t let that put you off making marshmallow! Scroll to beneath the recipe method for a handy baking hack.

5. No-bake Peppermint Patties

Want to spread the Christmas cheer, but not the refined sugar? Sweetened with Pure Maple Syrup, these better-for-you Peppermint Patties from Jade at Panaceas Pantry make a lovely treat for your health conscious loved ones.

6. Gingerbread Biscuits

Easy to make and packed with festive spices, gingerbread is such a versatile Christmas recipe. Keep them on hand for when the neighbours pop over, or let the kids decorate a batch for their favourite school teacher.

7. Orange & Ginger Madeleines

Packed full of fresh orange, ginger and fragrant vanilla, these sweet little madeleines from Wholesome Patisserie are a lovely grown up gift.

8. Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies

A good sugar cookie recipe is a baking staple for personalised gifts; the decorating options are endless! Keep a packet of our Buttercream Icing in the pantry for a great Christmas hack – no need for butter, just add a splash of milk and whip.

9. Peppermint Oreo Fudge

Get a head start on your Christmas gifts with a big batch of this easy microwave fudge. Stored in an airtight container, it will keep for 2 weeks in the fridge or up to three months in the freezer.

10. Soft Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies

Infused with holiday spices and fresh orange zest, these soft cookies are inspired by the traditional Lebkuchen from Germany. Drunk into melted milk chocolate and package them up for a delicious edible gift.

11. Keto Christmas Rum Balls

Following the keto diet over Christmas is tough, so imagine their glee when you gift them a batch of sugar free rum balls! Our Sugar Free Maple Flavoured Syrup is the secret ingredient for sweetness without the sugar.

12. Rolled Peppermint Chocolate Christmas Cookies

There always seems to be some sort of cookie within arm’s reach at Christmas time, but we’ve never seen ones shaped like this before. Filled with a delicious peppermint cream, this recipe from the lovely Marie of Sugar Salt Magic will make a very unique gift.

13. Chocolate Salami

Speaking of unique gifts, have you ever tried chocolate salami? Originating from Italy, this no-bake treat is easy to make in bulk for Christmas gifts. We used pistachios, hazelnuts and crystalised ginger, but feel free to personalise the recipe with whatever you have on hand.

14. Easy Vanilla Bean Fudge

Rich, creamy and packed with fragrant Vanilla Bean Paste, fudge is a classic edible gift. This recipe couldn’t be easier – just don’t be tempted to stop stirring or increase the heat or it may start to burn – Patience is key! Cut it into squares or use a Christmas shape cookie cutter for a festive treat.
