Using store-bought butterfly cutters, we show you how to create easy, affordable and beautiful butterflies to adorn your cakes, cupcakes and cookies.

Method

STEP 1

Knead Dr. Oetker Ready to Roll Icing until smooth. Tint to your desired colour using a few dabs of Queen Food Colour Gels, or if using liquid colour, apply using a toothpick dipped in colour.

STEP 2

Roll out fondant until 2-3mm thin and using a small butterfly cutter, cut little butterflies.

STEP 3

Arrange butterflies over the corner of a box to give them shape and allow to dry fully (24 hrs). You are now ready to decorate with your pretty butterflies!

RECIPE: These beautiful butterflies feature on our Strawberry Swirl Cupcakes. We also have a tutorial for creating two-toned buttercream here.

TIP: Store finished fondant butterflies in an airtight container in the pantry for up to 4 weeks.
