How can we help?
If you need a question answered in a jiffy, have a look at our FAQs and product pages, you’ll find the answers to most of our common questions on these pages. If not, drop us a line and we’ll return to you within a couple of days.
If a product is listed on the Queen website but you’re unable to find it in-store, it may be temporarily out of stock. We recommend checking your preferred retailer’s website (such as Coles or Woolworths), selecting your local store, or asking in-store for availability. While we’d love every Queen product to be on every shelf, availability can vary by location and is often outside our control.
If the product is not listed on our website and appears on our Deleted Product List, it has unfortunately been discontinued and is no longer available for sale. We know how loved some of these products are, and we’re always working hard to keep your favourites on shelves.

In relation to alcohol content, the majority of Queen Vanilla extracts are made by combining pure vanilla beans with a mixture of alcohol (sugar cane-derived ethanol) and water. This allows the flavour compounds from the pure vanilla bean to infuse into the alcohol/water mixture, which then forms the pure vanilla extract. The highest percentage of alcohol Queen Vanilla contains is 35%. This means that if you use 1 tsp Queen Vanilla extract in your baking (5ml), you would at most add 1.75ml alcohol to your cake (a tiny amount). The high temperatures achieved during baking will cause most of this alcohol to evaporate out of your cake with the flavour remaining intact, as the alcohol is simply a carrier for the flavour. Queen 99% Sugar & Alcohol Free Vanilla Extract is made with pure vanilla beans and is 99% sugar-free and alcohol free. This vanilla extract is cold extracted through a natural process to capture the full flavour and aroma of vanilla without alcohol or added sugars. Alternatively, Queen Finest pure vanilla beans are option for your alcohol-free vanilla needs.

Best Before Date
The best before date can be found in a small white box on the back or base the packaging, on the seal of the tube or for Pure Maple Syrup on the neck of the bottle. This date is your best guide for product freshness.
Older Products
About four years ago, we began labelling best before dates on all Queen products. If your bottle doesn’t have a date, it may have been purchased before this change. The shelf life for our Essences and Extracts is 4.5 years. If you’re unsure when you purchased your bottle, we recommend discarding it.
Storage Tips
· Vanilla Products (including Vanilla Bean Paste & Pods): Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight (such as the pantry). Always use a clean spoon and ensure the lid is tightly closed. No need to refrigerate or freeze.
· Colours & Extracts: Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, even after opening.
· Maple Syrup: Once opened, refrigerate for up to a year, or store upright in the freezer for longer. It won’t freeze solid due to its high sugar content and will remain pourable.
· Flavoured Toppings: Refrigerate after opening.
Vanilla is one of the world’s most loved flavours and one of the most labour-intensive to produce. It takes over 12 months to grow, hand-pollinate, harvest, and cure each vanilla bean to develop the rich, aromatic flavour you know and love.
Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right Queen Vanilla product for your recipe:
Vanilla Bean Pods
The purest form of vanilla. Queen Vanilla Beans are gourmet grade and ideal for special occasion desserts like custards, poached fruit, and crème brûlée. They deliver a strong, authentic flavour.
Vanilla Bean Paste
Made from vanilla extract and thousands of real vanilla seeds. It adds rich flavour and beautiful flecks to cream-based recipes like whipped cream, buttercream, panna cotta, pavlova, and even milkshakes.
Vanilla Extract
Created by infusing vanilla beans in water, alcohol, and sometimes sugar. It’s perfect for everyday baking—think cakes, biscuits, pancakes, slices, and icings.
Concentrated Vanilla Extract
A more intense version of our extract, made from pure vanilla beans. The thick consistency is great for delicate or aerated recipes such as meringues, mousses and sponge cakes.
Single Origin Extract, Paste and Pods
Our Single Origin Vanilla range celebrates the unique flavour profiles of vanilla grown in different regions.
Madagascar vanilla (Extract & Paste) is smooth, creamy, and sweet.
Papua New Guinea vanilla (Pods) is bold, floral, and slightly fruity.
Each origin brings its own character, so you can choose the one that best suits your recipe or taste preference.
Vanilla Essence
We no longer use the term “essence” to describe our vanilla products, as terminology in the food industry has evolved. Essence is now commonly associated with synthetic flavouring. What was once labelled “Vanilla Essence – Flavouring Extract” is now simply referred to as vanilla extract, to help clearly distinguish natural vanilla from artificial alternatives.
Hybrid Vanilla, also known as Vanilla Extract with added natural flavours
While Queen does not manufacture hybrid vanilla products, these can be found in all major supermarkets. Hybrid vanilla refers to a flavouring product that combines both vanilla extract (which is derived from real vanilla beans) , natural flavours (which are derived from natural sources, but not from vanilla itself) and sometimes colours, or caramelised ingredients. They are used to enhance or “boost” the vanilla flavour without increasing the amount of pure vanilla extract. Hybrid vanilla is used to create a consistent vanilla flavour in recipes, often at a lower cost than using pure vanilla extract alone.
At Queen, we’re committed to ethical sourcing and sustainable practices that support both people and the planet.
Fairtrade Vanilla
Our Fairtrade Vanilla Extract with Seeds is made using Fairtrade certified vanilla. This certification ensures farmers receive fair pricing and improved trade terms, helping them build better futures for their families and communities. By choosing Fairtrade, you’re helping reduce poverty through everyday shopping.
Sustainable Palm Oil
Queen uses GreenPalm certified palm oil, supporting RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) growers. This certification ensures producers are environmentally and socially responsible, protecting primary forests and continuously improving their operations. Learn more at rspo.org
Rainforest Alliance Certified
For products containing cocoa-based ingredients, these ingredients are Rainforest Alliance Certified, helping protect ecosystems and support the livelihoods of farming communities. Find more at ra.org
